Now the iPhone has taken the lead in the world market for smartphones. According to the data that has just been released by IDC, for the first time Apple's device was the most sold around the world, what happened in the second quarter. The trend had been anticipated by the institute Strategy Analytics.
According to IDC, Apple has shipped 20.3 million handsets in the second quarter, surpassing competitors like Samsung, Nokia, RIM (BlackBerry) and HTC (in that order). In the first quarter, Apple iPhones sold 18.7 million, just behind Nokia, which had 24.2 million. According to Ramon Llamas, an analyst at IDC, demand for the iPhone is so strong that even the device earlier models, such as 3G still sell a lot.
In the second quarter of this year, Samsung was with 17.3 million smartphones sold, a result driven by strong demand for the Galaxy S. Research in Motin delivered 12.4 million handsets.
